Handprinted Linocut and Woodcut Prints by Louise Midgley

Believe in Tomorrow

£30.00

Carved in 2022, this design was originally created as my offering for the Thought Press Project 2022, the theme of which was "food growing and gardening".

TPP is an annual fundraising collaboration of 50 UK printmakers who each donate a batch of 15 prints, with all proceeds being split between two charities - in 2022, the beneficiaries were The Trussell Trust (the overarching charity for British Foodbanks) and Edible Rotherhithe - hence that particular theme of "food growing and gardening".

The quote is from Audrey Hepburn, and when you consider that her childhood involved malnutrition under Nazi occupation, it makes the words all the more poignant - and appropriate for this particular project.

Please head to www.thoughtpressproject.shop to see the amazing array of original artwork that's available from other British printmakers at affordable prices!

Since I try, wherever possible, to align my prints with a charitable organisation to whom I pledge to donate 10% of all sales, with this print it makes sense to continue to make the beneficiary Edible Rotherhithe. You can find out more able the amazing work they do here:

SPECIAL OFFER:
This print was created soon after the loss of my amazing Dad. Therefore, whilst stocks last, all purchases of this print will come with a complementary sheet of handmade seed paper containing seeds from his hollyhocks, which were his pride and joy. I like to imagine that a little bit of Dad will be spread around the world to wherever my prints find a home 🌱

ITEM SPECIFICS:

This image is signed, hand-carved and hand-pressed, and is printed with water-based ink on 120 gsm paper that is bright white with a matt surface. This paper is wood free and has been bleached without chlorine. The image itself is approximately A4 in size.

This print is an open edition, but as with all handmade items, each one will vary slightly, making it completely unique. So for as long as the lino remains workable (Lino degrades over time), you can request to have it printed in a different colour of your choosing.
