'Rise Again’

A hand-carved, handprinted linocut, made in April 2020 and limited time only 50 editions.

This design was inspired by the Printer Solstice prompt, ‘Rise Again’. Although I assume the prompt had a biblical connotation as it coincided with Easter, I tried to think outside the box and came up with this Phoenix, rising from the flames.

In a strange sort of way the whole Coronavirus Pandemic also inspired this concept, as I was thinking about how, when these terrible times have passed, humanity will pick ourselves up and adjust to our new ‘normality’ - in whatever form that may take. Ultimately, it’s about rebirth, hope and adapting to this Brave New World we find ourselves in.

ITEM SPECIFICS:
This design is a signed, limited edition of only 50 prints per colour. As with all handmade items, each one will vary slightly, making it completely unique.
It is printed with water-based ink on 130g ivory Simili Japanese paper, which is slightly larger than A4 in size.
The image itself measures roughly 140x120mm.
